The programme went on from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. each day under the general theme “Defeating mental stress to overcome addiction”.
Any kind of an addiction is the result of mental stress, feeling of inner insecurity and laziness. Learning to manage these inner negative forces creates a stable personality. Guide lines on;
1. Overcoming mental stress
2. Knowledge of the inner security
3. Activating the positive thinking process encouraged the participants to look into their negative personality traits as an observer and to take steps in dealing with detach involvement.
A strong personal interest was shown by many in learning to take over the control of physical organs at the silent experimentation sessions. They were guided to awaken the inner consciousness to see, hear and feel the right need of the self without getting trapped at the demand of physical sense organs.
While discussions at small groups on above areas went on for previous batches the basic knowledge was discussed with the new-comers separately. Student facilitators were encouraged to share their understanding with peer members with much more clarity and depth.
Mr. Mahanama Dodampegama, a motivational speaker and a management professional visited for a guest lecture on “Developing inner personality to face future challenges”.
Participants took a lot of encouragement from Mr. Dodampegama’s speech which was based on his personal life stories and practical experiences. As usual group meditation sessions on each evening attracted the majority. Few among the whole group shared that they have started to meditate every morning and evening at least for 10 minutes.
More than 70% of the participants were very open during their discussions for understanding feelings of being cared during daily feedback sessions. They were very interactive and intuitive – asking questions, giving ideas and suggestions etc.
They have trained themselves to conduct a simple group meditation session every morning before starting the day’s activity. Pin drop silence is maintained daily during that meditation for about 5 minutes even at the absence of any instructor.
We express our sincere thanks to all officers of the rehabilitation center for their caring support throughout the process. It’s worth appreciating the honest and tireless work of the whole staff for a better future of these beneficiaries.
